High Availability (HA) provides VDS redundancy for your server in the Cloud Next cluster. In the event of physical server failure, affected virtual machines are automatically moved onto other production servers in the cluster with spare capacity, creating zero downtime as a result of hardware failure.
An agent placed on each server maintains a “heartbeat” with the other servers in the cluster and a loss of “heartbeat” initiates the restart process of all affected virtual machines on other servers. HA ensures that sufficient resources are available in the cluster at all times to be able to restart virtual machines on different physical servers in the event of server failure.
Distributed Resource Scheduling (DRS) continuously monitors utilization across the Cloud Next cluster and intelligently allocates available resources among the virtual machines. When a virtual machine experiences an increased load, DRS automatically allocates additional resources by redistributing virtual machines among the physical servers in the cluster. This ensures that you continually experience 100% of your VDS resource allocation 100% of the time.
Using a DRS environment we are able to allocate resources to your server as and when required; ensure resources will always be available for your server; manage hardware utilization automatically and continuously to respond to changing conditions and new technology and conduct zero-downtime server maintenance.
